Just when you thought corporate America could not intertwine itself with Leftist causes, OneUnited Bank ups the ante. OneUnited Bank is an African-American owned and managed financial institution headquartered out of Boston, Massachusetts. The bank recently launched a ‘Black Lives Matter’ debit card to encourage ‘black banking’
According to a report out Saturday, at least 17 claimed to be refugees from those nations, three came in as "students," and 25 eventually became U.S. citizens.
The Michigan Chronicle reports:
“A historic partnership has been born between OneUnited Bank, the largest Black owned bank in the country, and #BlackLivesMatter to organize the $1.2 trillion in spending power of Black America and launch the “Amir” card during Black History Month.
Both OneUnited Bank and #BlackLivesMatter are strong advocates for the empowerment of Black people, and have taken special care to communicate this focus through their messaging and their work.
#BlackLivesMatter was sparked by the acquittal of the killer of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin and founded in 2013 as a rallying cry to decree that while every human life matters, it is the constant devaluing of Black life that must come to the forefront of social issues. #BlackLivesMatter works to end state-sanctioned violence against Black people and to vision and build the kind of world in which we want to live. #BlackLivesMatter is committed to mobilizing Black people and allies to engage in social action that will create a just and peaceful society.”
It turns out the CEO of the bank, Kevin Cohee is a real prize, scamming the government out of TARP money for his lavish lifestyle.
Business Insider reports:
“When Kevin Cohee, the CEO and Chairman of OneUnited, asked the government to loan the bank $50 million in TARP funds, it was discovered that Cohee had expensed quite a lifestyle to the bank’s account.
According to the Boston Herald, Cohee’s car collection (a Porsche, a Jaguar, and more) and his $6.4 million beachfront house had all been paid for by the bank.
Possibly worse, though unrelated, is what allegedly happened inside the house.
Inside the house paid for by the bank, police say, Cohee kept cocaine, illegal narcotics and opiates. (Police say Cohee agreed to participate in a “drug diversion program” in exchange for the drug charges being dismissed.) And at one point, while the house was being filmed for an unknown MTV series, Cohee met a woman who would later accuse him of sodomy. The pair had met while the woman was working as a stylist on the set of his house while MTV took photos for the show. The sodomy charges were later dropped.”
